| Karnataka Ministers Laxman Savadi & CC Patil Watching Porn In Karnataka Assembly Posted: 07 Feb 2012 07:07 AM PST Two Karnataka ministers Laxman Savadi & CC Patil were caught watching obscene content inside the state Assembly. The two ministers include Karnataka Co-operation Minister Laxman Savadi and Karnataka Women and Child Welfare Minister CC Patil. The minister were caught watching an obscene video on their phones. The Speaker has said that law will take its own course. A local channel covering proceedings in the Assembly showed the ministers using a cellphone to watch what the channel claimed was obscene content. Some in the BJP say the ministers were watching a news story on a rape. Sources say the two ministers watched two clips – one was porn, the other was the news story that the BJP cites off the record in their defence. The footage was aired by local channels after the House adjourned for the day. Private regional channels are allowed, like the state-run Doordarshan, to telecast the proceedings of the Assembly. The House was debating the issue of hoisting of a Pakistani flag in the Bijapur district as well as communal tension elsewhere in the state. Former chief minister and JD(S) leader H D Kumaraswamy said the ministers’ behaviour is a “black mark” in the history of the state Assembly. | Speak Asia News 2012: Supreme Court Asks Speak Asia To Deposit Investors Money Posted: 07 Feb 2012 06:54 AM PST The Supreme Court of India has directed the Singapore-based firm Speak Asia, accused of duping investors to the tune of Rs 1,300 crore, to deposit before it the amount payable to investors and concerned authorities. A bench of justices Dalveer Bhandari and Dipak Verma asked the mediator, appointed by it earlier, to ascertain the exact amount which is payable by Speak Asia to the investors and other authorities and directed the company to deposit the same within two weeks after that. “We request the learned mediator to ascertain how much amount in fact is due and payable to the petitioners and other authorities. “We direct the concerned respondents (Speak Asia) to deposit the amount indicated by the learned Mediator with the Secretary General of the Supreme Court within two weeks of the order of the learned Mediator,” the bench said. “All the parties would be at liberty to participate in the proceedings before the learned Mediator,” it added. The bench passed the order on a plea filed by a group of investors of Speak Asia for recovering their money. Around 115 investors, who had put their money in the firm, had filed a petition before the apex court last year. The court had in October last year asked Speak Asia Online Pvt Ltd and its related company Haren Ventures Pvt Ltd to file an affidavit stating that in case of ascertaining financial liability by the Mediator the same would be paid by them.
