Sheryl Sandberg Was Facebook’s Best-Paid Employee In 2011 Got $30Million Posted: 01 Feb 2012 09:12 PM PST Sheryl Sandberg, chief operating officer of Facebook, got paid $30.87 million last year, making her the most highly compensated employee at the company in 2011. That disclosure, including in Facebook's S-1 filing with the SEC on Wednesday, further outlines that Sandberg got $295,833 in salary plus a bonus of $85,133 and stock awards worth $30,491,613. That trumps the $1.49 million that CEO Mark Zuckerberg received. Zuckerberg's compensation included a salary of $483,333 plus a $220,500 bonus and "other compensation" worth $783,529. The bulk of that figure was related to "personal use of aircraft chartered in connection with his comprehensive security program for his family and friends. Another $90,850 of that amount was for "costs related to estate and financial planning."David Ebersman, the company's CFO, meanwhile, received $18.68 million last year, which includes a $295,833 salary, a bonus of $86,133 and $18.3 million in stock awards. Rounding out the list are Mike Schroepfer, vice president of engineering, who got $24.7 million in total and Theodore Ullyot, vp, general counsel and secretary, who received $7 million. Though those employees were the highest-compensated in 2011, none of them stand to gain nearly as much in Facebook's IPO as Mark Zuckerberg. Zuckerberg, whose net worth in 2011 was estimated at $17.5 billion last year, claims 56.9% voting power in Facebook and owns more than 1 billion shares in the company. The next on the list of top shareholders among company executive officers and directors is James Breyer, a venture capitalist, who owns 201 million shares and has 11.4% voting rights in the company. Peter Thiel, another VC, has 44 million shares, which translates to 2.5% voting rights. Sandberg, meanwhile, has 1.9 million shares. Among outside investors, Goldman Sachs holds 65.9 million shares while Dustin Moskovitz, a co-founder, holds 133.8 million shares. The pricing for the stock has not been set at this time. Penelope Cruz Nude PETA: Penelope Cruz Pose T0pless For PETA Ad PHOTOS Posted: 01 Feb 2012 07:48 PM PST Penelope Cruz is the latest celeb to pose for PETA! The Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides star, 37, is shown looking over her bare shoulder with a caption that reads: "Give Fur the Cold Shoulder." The organization said of the Oscar winner on their website: "Penelope's passion for cruelty-free fashion goes beyond the red carpet because she knows that fur is never glamorous—not as a coat, a collar, or even tiny trim." She joins celebs like Eva Mendes, Holly Madison, Khloe Kardashian, Olivia Munn and Pamela Anderson (to name a few), who have been featured in the organization's ads. However, Cruz seems to be one of the few that isn't baring it all in the name of animal rights. The PETA pic debuted on Wednesday, Feb. 1, on a 70-foot billboard in New York City. What do you think of these nearly nude PETA ads? Are they shocking in a good way or bad way? Related posts:

Egypt Soccer Violence: 100 Dead In Worst Soccer Violence In Egypt Posted: 01 Feb 2012 07:38 PM PST At least 74 people were killed and hundreds injured after soccer fans rushed the field in the seaside city of Port Said on Wednesday following an upset victory by the home team over Egypt’s top club, setting off clashes and a stampede as riot police largely failed to intervene. It was a bloody reminder of the deteriorating security in the Arab world’s most populous country as instability continues nearly a year after former President Hosni Mubarak was swept out of power in a popular uprising. The melee – which followed an Egyptian league match between Al-Masry, the home team in the Mediterranean city, and Al-Ahly, based in Cairo and one of Egypt’s most popular teams – was the worst case of soccer violence in Egypt and the deadliest worldwide since 1996. One player said it was “like a war.”In Cairo, fans angered that another match between Al-Ismaili and Zamalek was halted because of the Port Said violence set fire to the bleachers at the main stadium in the Egyptian capital, authorities said. No injuries were reported, and employees said firefighters extinguished the blaze before it caused much damage. The clashes and ensuing stampede did not appear to be directly linked to the political turmoil in Egypt, but the violence raised fresh concerns about the ability of the state police to manage crowds. Most of the hundreds of black-uniformed police with helmets and shields stood in lines and did nothing as soccer fans chased each other, some wielding sharp objects and others hurling sticks and rocks. Security officials said the ministry has issued directives for its personnel not to “engage” with civilians after recent clashes between police and protesters in November left more than 40 people dead. The violence also underscored the role of soccer fans in Egypt’s recent protest movement. Organized fans, in groups known as ultras, have played an important role in the revolution and rallies against military rule. Their anti-police songs, peppered with curses, have quickly become viral and an expression of the hatred many Egyptians feel toward security forces that were accused of much of the abuse that was widespread under Mubarak’s regime. There have been other recent violent incidents at soccer games. In April, the ineffectiveness of the police force also was on display when thousands of fans ran onto the field before the end of an African Champions League game between local club Zamalek and Tunisia’s Club Africain. The hundreds of police on duty at Cairo International Stadium could not stop the violence then, either. Activists scheduled rallies Thursday outside the headquarters of the Interior Ministry in Cairo to protest the inability of the police to stop the bloodshed. Many gathered outside Al-Ahly club in Cairo, chanting slogans against military rule, and hundreds filed into Cairo’s main train station to receive the injured arriving from Port Said. “We die like them, or we ensure their rights,” the crowd chanted, along with slogans denouncing the military rulers. As the train arrived, scores jumped on top of the train and raised Egyptian flags. “They came at us with machetes and knives…they threw some of us from the fourth floor,” one returning fan told the private TV station ONTV. “Everyone was beating us. They were beating us from inside and outside, with fireworks, stones, metal bars, and some had knives, I swear,” another fan told the station, which did not give their names. In Port Said, residents marched early Thursday, denouncing the violence and saying it was a conspiracy by the military and police to cause chaos. Army tanks and armored vehicles joined police patrolling near hospitals and morgues. Police were not to be seen in the streets after the violence and were unavailable to break up fights that followed. The tension also spread to the nearby Suez province. About 500 protesters, including soccer fans and activists, gathered outside the main police headquarters to protest what they called police negligence. A security official said the police fired tear gas to disperse the crowd. He was speaking on condition of anonymity because he wasn’t authorized to speak to reporters. The scuffles erupted when fans of Al-Masry stormed the field following a rare 3-1 win against Al-Ahly. Al-Masry supporters hurled sticks and stones as they chased players and fans from the rival team, who ran toward the exits and up the stands to escape, according to witnesses. One man told state TV he heard gunshots in the stadium, while a lawmaker from Egypt’s powerful Muslim Brotherhood said the police didn’t prevent fans carrying knives from entering the stadium. TV footage showed Al-Ahly players rushing for their locker room as fistfights broke out among the hundreds of fans swarming on to the field. Some men had to rescue a manager from the losing team as he was being beaten. Black-clothed police officers stood by, appearing overwhelmed. The Interior Ministry said 74 people died, including one police officer, and 248 were injured, 14 of them police. A local health official initially said 1,000 people were injured and it was not clear how severely. Security forces arrested 47 people for involvement in the violence, the statement said. State TV appealed to Egyptians to donate blood for the injured in Port Said, and the military sent two aircraft to evacuate serious cases to the capital, Cairo. Field Marshal Hussein Tantawi, the head of the military leadership that assumed power after Mubarak’s ouster, welcomed Al-Ahly team players who were flown back to Cairo from Port Said on a military aircraft. “This will not bring Egypt down,” he told reporters at a military air base east of Cairo. “These incidents happen anywhere in the world. We will not let those behind it go …This will not affect Egypt and its security.” The military declared three days of mourning starting Thursday. Interior Minister Mohammed Ibrahim told state TV that 13,000 Al-Masry fans stormed the field, jumping a low fence and attacking about 1,200 Al-Ahly fans. He transferred the Port Said local security chief to a desk job as a punitive measure. Al-Ahly goalkeeper Sharif Ikrami, who was injured in the melee, told the private station ONTV that dead and wounded were being carried into the locker room. “There were people dying in front of us,” he said. “It’s over. We’ve all made a decision that we won’t play soccer any more. How will we play soccer after 70 people died? We can’t think about it.” Hesham Sheiha, a health ministry official, said most of the deaths were caused by concussions, deep head wounds and suffocation from the stampede. He said 40 people were seriously injured. In an interview with the team’s station, Mohammed Abu Trika, a player with Al-Ahly, criticized police for standing by and not intervening in the violence. “People here are dying and no one is doing a thing. It’s like a war,” he told the team TV station. “Is life this cheap?” Egypt’s state prosecutor ordered an immediate investigation into the violence, and the Egypt Football Association ordered an indefinite suspension of the league games. The parliament said it would convene an emergency session. The two sides also traded conspiracy theories, with each side blaming the other for trying to destabilize the country. Essam el-Erian, a Brotherhood lawmaker, said the military and police were complicit in the violence, accusing them of trying to show that emergency regulations giving security forces wide-ranging powers must be maintained. “This tragedy is a result of intentional reluctance by the military and the police,” he said. The manager of the Al-Masry, Kamal Abu Ali, announced he also was resigning in protest. “This is not about soccer. This is bigger than that. This is a plot to topple the state,” he told the same station, using an often-cited allegation by the military against protesters. Bob Bradley, the former U.S. national team coach who was hired in September as coach of Egypt’s national team, was not at the stadium, U.S. Soccer Federation spokesman Michael Kammarman said. It was the deadliest incident of soccer violence since Oct. 16, 1996, when at least 78 people died and 180 others were injured in a stampede at a stadium in Guatemala City before a World Cup qualifying match between Guatemala and Costa Rica. The Port Said game was a face-off between two teams with a long history of fierce competition, Al-Masry, the home team, and Al-Ahly, a record 36-time winner of the Egyptian league and a six-time winner of the African Champions League. FIFA President Sepp Blatter said he was “shocked and saddened” by the deaths. “This is a black day for football. Such a catastrophic situation is unimaginable and should not happen,” he said in a statement. The Confederation of African Football, which organizes the African Cup, said a minute’s silence would be held before all quarterfinals this weekend as a mark of respect for the dead. CAF President Issa Hayatou said, “African football is in a state of mourning.” Related posts:

Mike Kelley Died: An Artist With Attitude Mike Kelley Dies At 57 in South Pasadena, California Posted: 01 Feb 2012 07:21 PM PST Mike Kelley, one of the most influential American artists of the past quarter century and a pungent commentator on American class, popular culture and youthful rebellion, was found dead on Wednesday at his home in South Pasadena, Calif. He was 57. Sgt. Robert Bartl of the South Pasadena police said it appeared that Mr. Kelley had committed suicide. Speaking to The Associated Press, he said a friend of Mr. Kelley's had told investigators that Mr. Kelley had been depressed after breaking up with a girlfriend. An autopsy was to be performed, Sergeant Bartl said. Mr. Kelley was born in Wayne, Mich., a suburb of Detroit, to a working class Roman Catholic family in October 1954. His father was in charge of maintenance for a public school system; his mother was a cook in the executive dining room at Ford Motor Company. He had early aspirations to be a novelist, but doubted his talent and found writing was too difficult, so he turned his energies to art, through painting, object-making and through music. In high school he immersed himself in Detroit's heavy metal music subculture, and that involvement continued through college at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. There he performed in a proto-punk noise band called Destroy All Monsters with three other artists, Jim Shaw, Niagara and Carey Loren, creating work that, with its combination of anti-establishment politics and Dada theatrics, had close connections to performance art. He brought this interest with him to graduate school in 1978 at the California Institute of the Arts in Valencia, Calif. There he formed a second art-band, "The Poetics," with fellow students John Miller and Tony Oursler. He absorbed, with some resistance, the school's overriding focus on Conceptual Art and theory, eased into by the embracing approach of teachers like John Baldessari, Laurie Anderson and Douglas Huebler. He began creating multimedia installations that synthesized large-scale drawings and paintings, often incorporating his own writing, along with sculptures, videos (one was based on the television show "Captain Kangaroo"), and performances, often scatological and sadomasochistic in nature. Although he stopped performing in 1986 — he later said that he always had to get drunk to do it — the other formal elements remained constants in his art. A certain tone or attitude remained constant, too. The shorthand term for it is abjection, a deliberate immersion in the gross-out anarchy associated with youth culture. But to see only that was to miss the deep and covered-up strain of poetry in his work, evident in a series of sculptural pieces using children's stuffed animals sewn onto or covered over with hand-knitted afghans. On one level, the pieces were sardonic send-ups of aesthetic trends like Minimalism, which Mr. Kelley despised as elitist. On another, they took aim at the strain of too-easy sentimentality he found repellent in popular culture. At yet another level, these pieces, with their martyred dolls and ruined promise of warmth, were innocence-and-experience metaphors, suggesting the trauma of hurt and loss that underlay the juvenile delinquent antics that surrounded them. By the mid-1980s, he was already gaining attention nationally and internationally. His career took off earlier in Europe than it did in the United States; he found enthusiastic audiences in France and Germany, at a time when Americans still didn't know quite what to do with him, this artist who made drawings of garbage, parodied both religious art and underground politics, and made pieces with titles like "Plato's Cave, Rothko's Chapel, Lincoln's Profile." Mystifying as they were at the time, they have given inspiration to countless young artists since. The band Sonic Youth used Mr. Kelley's work on the album cover for "Dirty," released in 1992. Mr. Kelley began having regular one-man exhibitions at Metro Pictures in Manhattan in 1982, and at Rosamund Felsen Gallery in Los Angeles the following year. In 2005, he had his first solo show at Gagosian gallery in New York City, which was representing him at his death. A retrospective, "Mike Kelley: Catholic Tastes," appeared at the Whitney Museum of American Art in 1993 and traveled to Los Angeles and Munich; a second retrospective appeared at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Barcelona in 1997; and a third was at the Tate Liverpool in 2004. Work by Mr. Kelley will be in the upcoming Whitney Biennial; it will be his eighth appearance in that show. Mr. Kelley is survived by a brother, George. Related posts:

Keira Knightley T0pless: Keira Knightley Poses T0pless In A Dangerous Method Posted: 01 Feb 2012 08:44 AM PST A Dangerous Method, this flick about Swiss psychiatrist Carl Jung kind of flew under the radar this award season, perhaps because absolutely nobody has actually seen it, but, dammit, cinematically speaking, when we heard the Keira Knightley was topless and getting all kinds of spanked in the film, we just had to take a gander. I mean, it is sort of the visualization of our long standing dream. Now, let’s be clear, Egotastic! does not condone the striking of a woman in any manner for any reason, I mean, unless you’re paying, and only then on the derriere whilst pretending you’re the strict headmaster of the school; at least, this is my personal exception. But it’s all fun and games on film, and watching Keira Knightley spanked, that’s one fun game. Related posts:

Imogen & Caprice In Lingerie: Imogen Thomas & Caprice In Lingerie For Valentine’s Day Collection Posted: 01 Feb 2012 08:05 AM PST The cold snap is now fully upon us as the frost kicks in and we dig out our thermals in preparation for the sub-zero temperatures. But clearly Imogen Thomas and Caprice are not feeling the cold this winter as they get set to raise the temperatures and thaw out a few of their male fans. And the girls clearly have spring in mind as they teamed up to model a pretty range of sexy lingerie, just in time for Valentine’s Day. The girls have joined forces to design a range of bras and knickers for Caprice’s lingerie company especially for the love-filled festivities. And they both looked absolutely gorgeous in the range, which features florals in black and purple and pink and white. There are also lacy black and white sets as well as a a seductive red chiffon design that shows off Imogen’s fabulous curves to perfection. And even though she is 10 years younger than her brunette counterpart, Caprice, 40, proved that anything Imogen can do, she can do just as well. The Californian blonde’s enviable figure looked hot in the range, which will be sold by ASOS.com and Very.co.uk from sizes A to G and with prices starting at £24. However, while Imogen had a hand in helping to design the range, she does not appear in the official pictures which will be used to sell the range on the websites. The girls have known each other for a while and back in August they were snapped leaving a restaurant together like old friends as they giggled at a number of photographers trying to take their picture. And earlier this month on the shoot, Imogen excitedly took to her Twitter page to announce her delight at taking part in the project. She wrote: ‘Hello my dumplings…I’m on a shoot with @ByCaprice. Me and @ByCaprice shooting…with the amazing @rachell_smith photographer.’ Related posts:

India-China War 2012: India Preparing For War With China In 2012; James Clapper USA Posted: 01 Feb 2012 07:43 AM PST Noting that India is increasingly getting concerned about China’s posture on its border, a top US intelligence official on Wednesday said that the Indian Army is strengthening itself for a “limited conflict” with China. “Despite public statements intended to downplay tensions between India and China, we judge that India is increasingly concerned about China’s posture along their disputed border and Beijing’s perceived aggressive posture in the Indian Ocean and Asia-Pacific region,” Director of National Intelligence James Clapper said in his prepared testimony before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence. “The Indian Army believes a major Sino-Indian conflict is not imminent, but the Indian military is strengthening its forces in preparation to fight a limited conflict along the disputed border, and is working to balance Chinese power projection in the Indian Ocean,” he said. India, Clapper said, has expressed support for a strong US military posture in East Asia and US engagement in Asia. He said China in 2011 appeared to temper the assertive behaviour that characterised its foreign policy the year before, but the internal and external drivers of that behaviour persist. “Moreover, although Chinese leaders have affirmed their commitment to a peaceful and pragmatic foreign policy – and especially to stable relations with China’s neighbours and the rest of the world – Beijing may take actions contrary to that goal if it perceives that China’s sovereignty or national security is being seriously challenged,” he said. Many of Beijing’s military capability goals have now been realised, resulting in impressive military might. Other goals remain longer term, but the Chinese Army is receiving the funding and political support to transform it into a fully modern force, capable of sustained operations in Asia and beyond, he said. 99 Most Desirable Women: Sofia Vergara & Kate Upton In List Of 99 Most Desirable Women Posted: 01 Feb 2012 06:10 AM PST There are so many women who capture the imagination of the public. But who is the most wanted? According to AskMen, Sofia Vergara, who plays Gloria on the hit ABC comedy “Modern Family” is all that and a bag of chips. In the site’s 11th Annual “Top 99 Most Desirable Women,” Vergara won for her combination of “attributes that men want in a companion, such as intelligence, talent, character, and beauty.” They say the poll received more than 1 million votes.
