Olympus TG-610 and TG-310 compact cameras Posted: 17 Jan 2011 09:53 AM PST Olympus has added an extra layer of butch to its Tough range of compact cameras, the Olympus TG-610 and TG-310. Water- and shockproof and quite happy to withstand freezing cold temperatures, Olympus' claim that both cameras are "virtually indestructible" certainly seems to have some merit. The two tough new arrivals were among several new Olympus faces announced during CES, and will be shouldering their way onto the shelves next month for £250 (TG-610) and £200 (TG-300) respectively. The Olympus TG-310 shares most of the same weather-beating credentials, though is only waterproof to 3m. The Olympus TG-610 is available in silver, black, blue and red, and if waterproof to 5m, shockproof to 1.5m and quite happy snapping away in temperatures of -10 deg C. The weatherproofing is down to the sliding double lock that protects the battery, card slots and ports, while the metal additional lens barrier on the TG-610 accounts for its extra waterproofing over the hard glass-protected TG310.
